After bananas and grapes, this is the most economically important fruit product group in the world. The number of fruits which belong to the citrus genus is vast. There are 1,600 different types in the family, which are further subdivided into 150 categories. On a basic level, citrus fruits can be sorted into four main groups:
- Oranges
- Mandarins - also known as easy peelers for obvious reasons
- Grapefruits
- Lemons
