Product information
Storage and handling of products	duration: 2 hours
X Correct storage not only results in less spoilage, but also extends the shelf life of products. Many fruits need particular care and handling. Which products can I store together and how and which are best kept apart? Storage in a cold store or in the fruit and vegetable counter – the composition of the air and temperature are all-important when it comes to the products’ shelf life. Participants are given a comprehensive overview on how to store and handle the products correctly.
General product information - the breadth of the range	duration: 4 hours
X Staff in the fruit and vegetable department are there to advise customers. They therefore require an overview of the products and range. These members of staff who deal directly with customers acts as expert assistants and need to know all about the products offered! This seminar module provides participants with basic production information on fruit and vegetables.
General product information - the depth of the range	duration: 2 hours
X Sales assistants need to be aware of the particular features of certain products, e.g., chicory, melons, bananas, artichokes and many other fruits. With the right know-how, wastage in the department can be easily reduced to a minimum. Participants are given more detailed information on the products. This is an ideal additional module to the seminar on general product information.

Marketing
Work processes in the department	duration: 4 hours
X Quick and efficient work processes are vital, particularly when handling easily perishable products. Day-to-day work in the department is extremely varied, but also poses a number of risks to the products. Part-time staff are often only aware of their particular duties and do not take time to consider the problems which the next shift will encounter. That’s why efficient and well-organised work processes are extremely important in the fruit and vegetable department. Participants are given practical tips on how to plan work processes in the fruit and vegetable department optimally. An overview helps foster understanding.
The significance of the fruit and vegetable department	duration: 2 hours
X The fruit and vegetable department is the retailer’s visiting card. With the right display and range, this is one of the profitable departments in the food retail trade. In this seminar, participants are given a general overview of the significance of this department and its role. It is an ideal starting point for trainees and those new to the range.
Customers and consumer behaviour	duration: 2 hours
X “The times they are a-changin...” Consumer behaviour has changed. Your staff need to be aware of new consumer habits in order to influence the range on offer correctly. A compact overview of modern customer structures and consumer behaviour are essential tools for putting together a range. Participants are given background information on consumer trends as well as practical applications for creating a profitable range.
On-site practical seminars	duration: 5 hours
X This seminar module is all about giving participants a truly hands-on experience with the products. A host of practical tips will help when making department displays. Participants learn how to stack the products as well as the basic principles on displays directly at the POS. Starting at 6 a.m. in the supermarket. This practical seminar is the ideal follow-on to the basic seminar “The significance of the fruit and vegetable department”.
Presentation of products	duration: one hour
X Consumers, for the most part, do not decide what they want to buy until they are in the supermarket. They are guided by what they see, product presentations must therefore be pleasing to the eye. Good product presentation is the first step to a successful sale. In this seminar we provide information on the principles of good product presentations which all staff in the fruit and vegetable department need to know.

Laws and standards
Declaration of fruit and vegetables	duration: 2 hours
X Declarations in the “green” department are particularly complicated and special knowledge is required of what information the price label needs to include. Incorrect information can result in fines and is, in any case, a sign of incompetence.

An overview of quality management	duration: 2 hours
X The seminar comprises an overview of all the relevant areas of quality management. Participants learn all the most important terms from this field.
The organic range	duration: one hour
X Organic products represent a growing market with an attractive margin. What does organic mean, how can I recognise organic products and why are they more expensive? Organic products are enjoying a boom and staff in the fruit and vegetable department need to be able to provide customers with answers to their questions – but can they always provide the right answer? The seminar provides your staff with background information and selling points for organic products.
